Administrative Operation

Center for General Education is strongly backed by the university president, receiving full support for hardware and software requests. Moreover, there is support for many exhibitions on the campuses to broaden students' General Ed capacity, as well as cultural spots provided for students’ self-discoveries, such as the Founder’s Memorial Hall and Arts Center.

The Center is headed by a director who serves a 3-year renewable term. There are more than 50 faculty members teaching General Education courses; 13 are full-time in the Center, while the others are associated with other university departments and assigned responsibility for one or more General Ed courses to satisfy the diverse needs of the curriculum. Some teachers are employed part-time from outside the university due to their expertise. The faculty number has remained quite stable over the years. Faculty members participate actively in all kinds of committees, Teaching Excellence Project affairs and many activities at MCU.
